Event Branding + Design | Seattle Graphic Designer

Each year, a firm I work for does a large event for all of the clients. (During the day, I work here as a markeing professional and do all sorts of fun things like social media and website management, event planning, marketing communications, and many other marketing and brand projects.)

In the hopes of making finance and wealth management (an often dry topic) fun, we make the events fun. It’s all about building genuine relationships with clients through fun experiences.

Each year, I get to design invitations and develop and overall event brand. The invite is the clients first taste for the event experience. For 2013, we found an inspirational speaker, Bob Goff. His message was to enjoy life and that love is not just a feeling, its a verb. Love Does. His book, by the way, is a great read. It’s made of chapters that are individual stories from his life experiences. Definitely brings some inspiration to life!

Anyway, the event was at the Woodland Park Zoo, and thinking of the message Bob would be providing (and his use of balloons throughout his book), I created this colorful brand:

The year of the snake into the year of the horse. Bring on 2014!
Posted by Andrea on 03 Jan 2014 / 1 Comment

I am so happy with what 2013 brought me and my business. It’s been a crazy ride, and although I have taken a minor hiatus from my artwork due to illness, I am getting back on track and am ready for 2014 and all it has in store!

I have made a few goals for myself and my business in 2014, and I thought I’d share it with you. It has been said that if you share your goals with others, you become more accountable. So let’s see how this works out.

I will tell you that I’ve never been good at setting goals in the New Year. Either they are too farfetched for me to keep up with and the momentum gets lost quickly, or I simply don’t set any goals. 2013 was truly a year where I made a difference in my life and really swung hard at everything.

2013 in review:

  1. HEALTH – I set a goal of becoming healthier. I started 2013 with a weight loss challenge at my office. I didn’t win, but I still lost a few pounds and ate better for 3 months. After the challenge, I fell off the wagon a bit, but I didn’t revert back to my old ways. In August I became quite ill. I saw so many doctors and specialists, and no answers were found. I finally decided to see a naturopathic doctor because nothing else was working. After just one visit and blood work, we found a problem. My body was fighting a gnarly tummy infection. With normal immune system numbers ranging from 1-9, my level was 40 in one area, and 17 and 13 in others. Basically, I had an imbalance of good vs bad bacteria in my tummy, which created a number of digestive and health problems. I’ve been on this crazy diet for a month and a half now, and have already seen a huge difference in my health and waistline! Soon, I hope to be fully recovered and back on track.
  2. HAPPINESS – 2013 has been full of joy. My hubby and I moved to a bigger condo and are so excited with the upgrade. We finally feel “settled” in Seattle, and truly feel like we’ve found the place our souls have been longing for. Not to mention I’ve been able to get some much needed bonding time with my beautiful Grandma, who has lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life, across the state from where I grew up. Additionally, the hubby found his dream job and comes home every day with a smile on his face. Seeing this genuine happiness makes my soul smile.
  3. PEACE – With a bumpy 2012, 2013 was a year of healing and growing. Making my faith stronger and bonds with loved ones deeper.
  4. PASSION – I finally found the courage within myself to launch my full-line freelance business. Before, I would do projects here and there for my small pool of clients, but in 2013, I decided to make it official. I filed my business, created this website, a Facebook page, and began putting myself out there. Of course, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the hubs, my family, my mother-in-law/accountant, and my numerous friends for their support and love: Ali, Jaime, RC + Brayden, Vanessa + Kyle, Brady + Ron, My God Mother (Jan), Ashley + family, Brianne + Alani, Eli + family, Shayna, Rosanna + family, and everyone who has shared, commented and expressed their love for my art. I can’t thank you all enough. You fuel my passion, and that makes each day worth waking up for.

So what are my goals for 2014? I have so many! But here are a few core goals I have for myself and AGP+D:

  • New friends – I love meeting new people, and I am excited to meet new friends and clients. If we have done a session together, or worked together, you can refer a friend and receive some perks.
  • More blog posts – I want to post more than just the sessions that happen. I’d like to show what I’m up to, what I’m working on, or just some little tidbits that you didn’t know about me or my industry. Want to know anything specifically? Let me know!
  • New Gear – I have a few items on my gear wish list, so I’d like to make them a reality! These will bring you some beautiful artwork too 🙂
  • Collateral – I have some cool packaging ideas that I’d like to make a reality. And maybe a website upgrade? Hmmm… Ideas!
  • Mini sessions – I’d love to host my very first mini session! Who’s ready?!

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a 2014 full of happiness, joy and success! Who’s ready to book their 2014 sessions?! 🙂
