A fun aspect of my “day job” is this chalkboard I added to an employee wall that I also designed. Every so often I find an inspirational quote that relates to the office vibe or season and have some creative fun.
One year old’s always have fun birthday parties. At one year, you’re expected to get cake all over your face while everyone ohh’s and ahh’s over how cute you are.
Needless to say, I LOVE the recent trend of cake smash photos. For little Alani, we did an adorable outside cake smash with a simple chocolate cake with hot pink filling, with sunshine and pink balloons waving in the wind behind her. Then, Mom picked a few favorite photos and we placed them into a custom Birthday invite.

But really, how can such a cutie pie NOT have cute pics? It’s just not possible 🙂
I had one of my first “creative” shoots for this adorable little girl’s birthday invites. She wants her party to be based on those Monster High dolls. One of them has her face painted dia de los muertos style (a personal fave). So her mom painted her face (she did a GREAT job!) complete with eyelashes and jewels, found this great lace shawl, and brought some fresh roses.
That day was rainy, but I found this great old building that had a porch – complete with chipped blue paint and questionable animals living in the roof! Poor Mimi was shivering, but all of her hard work paid off, which resulted in this:
