As wedding season draws to a close, wedding photographers and other wedding industry professionals have some breathing room (for a few months). To keep myself busy (never a dull moment!), I like to keep in touch with the design world and trends for the upcoming wedding season.
It’s a great time to look at fun new fonts for use in Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, and other wedding collateral (like programs, menus, and thank you notes).
There’s so much that goes into creating a font, its truly a talent to have! I admire so many type designers, so when you see a fee for a font, PAY IT! It’s supporting these artists who develop so many amazing fonts – it’s not easy.
It’s a great soon to be classic, modern and clean font. Great for dramatic, yet not overly trendy designs; It’s definitely not something you will look at in 10 years and wonder what you were thinking. Also, it kind of speaks for itself from a design point. It can carry the design load. Meaning, you don’t need a bunch of illustrations on your piece – the font speaks to elegance and simplicity. Although, it still would go well with a fully designed piece. It might be great with a capitalized serif like Domenico, or a sans serif like Anke Sans.
Such a great sturdy, yet whimsical font. Perfect for floral illustrations (like shown). It shows an elegance, with a hint of whimsy – pointedly the light and airy curls – kind of elegant, yet not stuffy. Would be great paired with a sans serif like Transat.
Calling all Country-chic Brides! This beautiful font is perfect for your trendy mason-jar wedding. It’s rustic, elegant, and playful. It would look great with wood texture, lace, and burlap. Paired with an equally fun font like Lunchbox (love!) or Schoolmarm, and you’ve got the perfect chic invite!
